Review: These scored well last year, very well. A big 9/10. My comments centred around the Ballycastle cream topping and how lovely it was.
Same again Aldi? Pretty close i think.
I’m not sure they’ve actually changed much in the 12 months since we last met these Ballycastle cream topped pies, but I do think the pastry is a little plainer. Nothing to put you off massively, because you’re here for the Baileys-esque cream.
The mincemeat is still nicely sweet and full of flavour, a hint of the brandy, cider and port comes through and compliments the Ballycastle.
It’s probably not a mince pie for everyday snacking, but for after a meal with people round it’s pretty damn good.
Cost: 43p each (£2.59 for 6)
