Review: These mince pie tarts have been a massive hit in recent years. Aldi are the masters of these. The last few years they’ve had the standard and sloe gin versions score 8s and 9s all over the place.
The box for these all butter almond tarts is identical to the 2023 version, and it feels like the tarts themselves are identical too. Not that this is a bad thing, they were lovely last year – so why change anything.
There’s something quite biscuit-like about the tart case, it’s really tasty and sweet – and goes perfectly with the sweet filling. The flaked almonds on top give it a bakewell affect – obviously you can easily pick those off if nuts aren’t your thing too.
As these fit in the alternative category they probably aren’t an everyday eat – but they’re definitely fancy enough to bring out for the more fancy events you might be having this Christmas
