Aldi All Butter Jamaican Rum Mince Tarts

Aldi All Butter Jamaican Rum Mince Tarts

Review: “A tart not a pie”, I hear you cry…but calm yourselves. These are too good to miss. Suitable for serving as a posh pudding across the festive period but equally as good with a brew.

I’m a fan of these tart-stye mince pies and I’ve reviewed a few over the years. This year Aldi have produced a Jamaican rum version (last year they were Almond) and it’s paid off.

The sweet and light pastry tart is superb, and the filling is sweet too but a healthy glug of the Jamaican rum does the job of pulling it back from the edge of ‘too sweet’.

Whilst they probably can’t be everyone’s mince pie of choice this Christmas (they’re a tart, not a pie for starters) they’re certainly a triumph and one to snap up if you see them on the shelves (they’ve disappeared from the Aldi website).
