One of my favourite mince pies in previous year's, Lidl's "Deluxe" pies once again impress and compete against their more expensive cousins.
One of my big gripes with a fancy mince pie is when you can't taste something they mention on the box. You can taste a hit of brandy in these, its warming and compliments the sweet fruits in the mincemeat perfectly.
Star of the show has to go to the pastry though. It's sweet and nicely crumbly without becoming a hindrance to eat without a plate. The dusting of icing sugar finishes things off nicely. I'd serve these on Christmas Day after lunch or later after a turkey butty.
